About Rand Clark - Triple Crown Hiker

Rand Clark lives with his wife, Susan, in Dayton, Maine, and has four children and 11 grandchildren. He thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail (2,193.1 miles) in 2021, the 100th anniversary of the Appalachian Trail. In 2024, he thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, which is 2655 miles.

Over the last couple of years, he has hiked the 67 highest peaks in New England, known as the 4000-footers, and has also completed the 100 highest peaks in New England.

Clark’s trail name is “halftime” because he embraced the AT thru-hike as an opportunity to take a half-time break in life to consolidate lessons learned and consider what is next in life. Clark met people of all ages and from all different backgrounds and countries on the trail, and that’s part of what makes a thru-hike so enjoyable.

Hiking the Appalachian Trail is the equivalent of hiking Mount Everest 15 times. Less than 25% of those who start the hike complete it.

Many people have hiking the Appalachian Trail on their bucket list.

Learn how you can hike the trail, too, or how you can hike it vicariously through Clark’s pictures!

One thing is sure: almost everyone can participate in the incredible adventure of hiking. There are easy trails near where you live in Maine, as well as mountains within 1 to 2 Hours' drive, and then there is the Appalachian Trail!

There are also different ways to approach it, allowing you to enjoy the adventure with someone else, as well as do it from a camper. Come out and see the pictures and learn about the physical, emotional, and spiritual journey that hiking and the great outdoors can offer!
